NSW:Seventy-year-old man dies in two-car smash

MELBOURNE, Dec 16 AAP - A 70-year-old man is dead and two people have been seriously
injured after a two-car smash near the NSW-Victoria border.

Victorian paramedics were called to the scene on the Cobb Highway, just across the
NSW border near Mathoura at about 6.10pm (AEDT) on Friday.

The 70-year-old died at the scene while a 50 year-old man with spine, chest and leg
injuries was taken to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne in a critical condition, an Ambulance
victoria spokesman said.

Also in the same car was a 38-year-old woman with spinal injuries. She was taken to
the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 45-year-old man in the other car was taken to the Echuca Hospital with minor injuries.
